1. Winners Named in OARDC Research Poster Competition

    WOOSTER, Ohio — The Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center has announced the winners of the research poster competition held during the center’s 2016 annual research conference in Wooster on April 21.

    The competition, which drew 106 entries, recognized outstanding research posters by OARDC-supported graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research assistants and associates.

    Ms. Hiam S. Desouky, who was trained through a joint Ph.D. training program between OSU South Center and Benha University in Cairo, passed her defense and received her Ph.D. recently in School of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University. Dr. Hiam S. Desouky completed her Ph.D. dissertation research in Dr. Hanping Wang’s Aquaculture Genetics Lab, OSU South Centers during April 2013-March 2015, after finishing her course work in Benha University.

    Aquaculture Research Recently Received two Grant Awards

    Dr. Hanping Wang was awarded $119,986 from NOAA-Sea Grant (Ohio) for developing superior neomale broodstocks and genetically fast-growing monosex female populations in yellow perch.

    Dr. Hanping Wang and his collaborators were awarded $155,000 from USDA-North Central Region Aquaculture Center for Establishing largemouth bass strains for rapid growth to market size in the north central region.

  10. State Food Policy Summit May 27

    The State Food Policy Summit held by the John Glenn School of Public Affairs is being held Tuesday, May 27, from 1:00 - 5:30 p.m. at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, 2201 Fred Taylor Drive on the OSU Campus.  This is the single annual event for food policy interests to join together across the state. The Summit is intended to inspire action by fostering awareness of food policy activities and possibilities at the state level.
