Ms. Hiam S. Desouky, who was trained through a joint Ph.D. training program between OSU South Center and Benha University in Cairo, passed her defense and received her Ph.D. recently in School of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University. Dr. Hiam S. Desouky completed her Ph.D. dissertation research in Dr. Hanping Wang’s Aquaculture Genetics Lab, OSU South Centers during April 2013-March 2015, after finishing her course work in Benha University. Her dissertation entitled “Developing biomarkers to detect stressors in fish using molecular biological tools” received an excellent evaluation from her committee. The Ohio Center for Aquaculture Research and Development (OCARD) has established an international joint Ph.D. training program with several counties since 2005. The program has attracted more than twenty international scholars and Ph.D students to work under Dr. Hanping Wang’s advisement in the Aquaculture Genetics and Breeding Genetics Lab at Piketon.
