As part of the southern Ohio region, OSU South Centers joined community leaders in response to the closing of the Chillicothe, Ohio Pixelle Paper Mill, originally known as the Mead Corporation. The mill has been a part of the community for over 130 years and 800 jobs are being impacted.
Throughout the year, the OSU South Centers’ Small Business Development Center (SBDC) partners with the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce to provide business education and assistance. During this time of extensive need, displaced workers are participating in educational events and receiving one-on-one assistance for starting a business or growing existing side businesses.
The South Centers SBDC served 181 clients across 17 counties in the first half of 2025.
