Chris Smalley is a Certified Business Advisor at The Ohio State University (OSU) South Centers Business Development Network. Chris’s main counties are Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Ross and Vinton Counties.
Chris has been with the OSU South Centers Business Development Network since 2009. In this roll, he has worked with a variety of small businesses to provide information and education in the three main areas of business: money, marketing, and management.
Prior to Chris’s employment with OSU he worked as a Financial Services Officer for Farm Credit Services of Mid-America. As a former lender he has the knowledge and understanding of what is expected from financial institutions and passes that on with his counseling. He has a BA in Agricultural Communication and Agricultural Business from The Ohio State University.
Chris grew up assisting his parents in a retail business as well as a family farm in southern Ohio. Chris has a strong passion and interest in agriculture as well as the growth of rural Ohio through small business development. This has led Chris today to also operate a lawn and landscape business as well as a small family farm in Jackson County.
