- Aquaculture and Aquaponics
Workforce development and youth education is a key for aquaculture development. Aquaculture Boot Camp (ABC) has proven a successful extension educational program in Ohio and the Midwest for new/beginning farmer training and youth education in the past six years. With ABC-1 and ABC-2 completed, we are recruiting students for ABC-3. - Small Business Development/Manufacturing
- Specialty Crops
Meet up with Dr. Logan Minter for a field tour of the specialty crop research plots and discuss collaborative opportunities, including the ePLUS initiatives and IPM program. Additional discussions about opportunities for crop diversification through research and extension involving specialty crops will be encouraged. - Soil, Water, and Bioenergy
Our Soil, Water, and Bioenergy program conducts applied research, develops educational initiatives, and shares evidence-based knowledge on climate-smart agriculture. Focus areas include soil health, conservation tillage, nutrient management, water quality, and bioenergy feedstocks. Projects range from controlling algal blooms with photocatalysis and reducing phosphorus loss with recyclable adsorbents to boosting soybean production with sulfur fertilization, improving crop stress tolerance with chemical inducers, and recycling biosolids for energy feedstock production.
- Small Fruit Research
Dr. Gary Gao conducts applied research and delivers comprehensive statewide extension programs on high value fruit crops, such as Aronia, blackberries, blueberries, currants, gooseberries, grapes, hardy figs and kiwis, honeyberries, and raspberries. Dr. Gao will highlight his research projects, discuss ways on research collaboration, and identify opportunities on co-authoring fact sheets.
