- Well, here we are at the end of another summer. I hope
that you all are coping with the variety of weather we have
had so far this year. Some of us had to deal with a cold,
wet Spring. Some a hot, dry summer. While others had
flooding. And for some of us it was just perfect. Life is
like that with its ups & downs, its gains & losses.
Looking back to last November when you elected me as
president I could not have imagined all the things that we
would be involved in. The changes that would occur or the
progress that we would make.
- This has been an exciting time for aquaculture in Ohio.
Just to name a few things that we have been involved in :
- Trip to D.C. to educate Congressional leaders on
aquacultural needs in Ohio;
|
|
| approval of a $400,000 grant to O.S.U.
to start the first phase of the Ohio Aquaculture Task Force's
Triangle Plan to place aquaculture centers in two more locations
in Wooster and Bowling Green; Input into the way U.S. E.P.A.
will deal with aquacultural issues; appointments to key advisory
councils that allow us to partner with other Ag related groups;
participation in various forums and meetings to give the
perspective from an aquaculturalist's stand point; the formation
of the Aquaculture Health Advisory Committee that works with
O.D.A.; the writing of testimony to congress in support of the
Regional Aquaculture Centers; we had folks at the state fair to
promote aquaculture thru displays in the Farm Bureau building
and in cooking |
