The Call Before You Cut Campaign, which also originated in
southeastern Ohio, expanded to a statewide effort in September.
Outreach efforts included airing of more than 2,000 radio
advertisements, development and distribution of posters to all county
Extension and Soil and Water District Offices, launching of a toll-free
number, and development of a web site dedicated to this effort. Nearly
200 woodland owners (controlling approximately 10,000 acres of
woodland) have called the toll-free number as of early December 2006.
This campaign is coordinated by OSU Extension and the ODNR Division of
Forestry and Rural Action.
