New Sophisticated Equipment Enhances Analytical and Laboratory Services at OSU South Centers at Piketon

Content

The crops, soil, and water resources laboratory at the OSU South Centers has enhanced its analytical services after acquiring several new pieces of sophisticated equipment.

The new equipment and instruments will help the lab provide services for analysis of air pollution (carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, methane, etc.) as well as analysis of coal, fish, fruits and nuts, garbage, grain, manure, plant, fertilizer, soil, and water samples.

The enhanced analytical services will be able to provide usable information to farmers, Extension educators, and researchers for nutrient management and fertilization, manure utilization and disposal.

These expanded laboratory analysis services will be provided by Yogi Raut, Stacey Reno, and Sara Scott. Yogi was hired as a research associate and will be working as a lab manager for overall supervision and maintenance of the equipment. Stacey and Sara, as part-time worker and student intern, will receive, process, and analyze samples and disseminate information to clientele.

For assistance from the crops, soil, and water resources laboratory, contact Yogi Raut, 1864 Shyville Road, Piketon, OH 45661 or call 1-800-297-2072 Ext. 126.
