The Ohio Center for Aquaculture Development, located at the OSU South Centers in Piketon, has been collaborating with the Negev Foundation ( www.negev.org) for several years, developing strategies for enhancing scientific exchange between Ohio's and Israel's aquaculture industries.  Last December, Shawn McWhorter, OSU Research Associate at the Bowling Green Aquaculture Center, was able to visit Israel and learn more about their aquaculture industry.  Sandy Kuhn, Berry Coordinator at the Centers, has also recently returned from an agricultural exchange visit to Israel.  The Negev Foundation is currently hosting two Israeli scientists in Ohio as part of the Ohio-Israel Agricultural Initiative. Mr. Yitzhak Simon, Aquaculture Extension Specialist, and Dr. Ilan Halachmi, Agricultural Engineer visited the Ohio Center for Aquaculture Development on Monday, August 14 .  Both gave brief presentations (30 minutes each) on aquaculture development in Israel and then spend time touring the facilities and visiting with researchers.    The two specialists were in Ohio Aug. 7-17, 2006 visiting aquaculture facilities across Ohio.
