This is Polly Creech's external drain from her pond. The pond is located on the right hand side of the picture and the pipe system runs through the pond levee to the external catch basin outside of the pond.

This is the external drain system the Nathan Hogue devised. There is a pipe through the pond levee and this chute which runs on the outside of the pond.

This is the catch basin that Nathan has. It is a cement storm sewer that has been put in the ground with the proper openings cut out for the water to enter with the shrimp and to drain out.

This is a picture of the pond in Logan county owned by Gary and Bruce Weeks. One thing you need to make sure of is that the pipe in your pond is flush with the pond bottom so it will drain fully.
Here is Gary and Bruce's catch basin. Yet another example of a farmer's ingenuity. You do not have to use cement for your catch basin but can use anything that is large enough and will hold water!

The opening for the piping from the pond is located in the bottom left hand corner.
You may want to flush out your line to make sure that all of the prawn have made it through.
On the inside of your pond you want the drain flush with the bottom of the pond like this one. That way the water drains fully out of the pond.
