Aquaculture... Spreading Our Fins!

OCAD is expanding into the northwest corner of Ohio. Responding to a need for enhanced aquaculture research and support  in the northern area of the state, a new Bowling Green Aquaculture Satellite Center will open its doors during summer 2005. The new Center will focus on research and extension initiatives involving recirculation aquaculture and developing the baitfish industry in Ohio. Visitors will be able to see a variety of commercial scale recirculation systems at the Center, located in the Hirzel Agriculture Incubator in Bowling Green.

A recirculating aquaculture demonstration facility will be developed to demonstrate the culture of largemouth bass, bluegill, baitfish, and yellow perch. As well as the species mentioned, another focus at the facility will be the monetary evaluation of commercially available recirculation systems and the conversion of existing farm structures for aquaculture use.

Recirculating Aquaculture Introductory Workshop

Recirculating Aquaculture Introductory Workshop in Bowling Green Ohio December 9, 2006.  This workshop is intended to familiarize those interested in the terminology, chemistry species and mechanics of RAS.  The goal of this workshop is to provide the prospective culturist with the knowledge necessary to better evaluate whether or not RAS is for them, and if so, to be able to ask to proper questions when moving forward.
